Abstract

This thesis examines the usability of LiDAR sensors at different price points within the context of applications for autonomous vehicles. The goal of this research is to conduct a performance analysis focusing on the functionality, accuracy, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of LiDAR sensors across different price points. The study evaluates sensors' capabilities in detecting and interpreting environmental data that are crucial for autonomous navigation, obstacle detection, and overall vehicle safety. Several controlled experiments and field tests will be conducted. The results of this study will provide industry practitioners, engineers, and researchers in related fields with useful guidance when choosing sensors for autonomous vehicles.
