Abstract
This article describes the circumstances of the publication of Álbum de Señoritas (Buenos
Aires, 1854), a journal for women written by Juana Manso, an early defender of women’s
rights. It analizes its content, its reception among the female audience to whom it was addressed,
and proposes possible reasons for its commercial failure. The author concludes that the Álbum
represents a key moment in the literary and social histories of Argentina.
