About
Marita Gronnvoll is a Professor and Assistant Chair of the School of Journalism and Communication Studies. She earned her MA from the University of Washington, and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, both in the field of rhetorical theory and criticism. Her specialization is in gender and feminist studies. Dr. Gronnvoll has published on topics such as news and entertainment media representations of torture, and media constructions of female suicide bombers in the "war on terrorism." She teaches classes in the areas of rhetoric, media, and popular culture.
